How to request account deletion

You can permanently delete your SavedThat account and all associated data at any time. There are two ways to do this:

Option 1 - In the SavedThat app or website

1. Sign in at savedthat.app/login or open the SavedThat Android / iOS app.
2. Go to Settings.
3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
4. Confirm. Your account is deleted immediately.

Option 2 - By email

If you cannot access your account, email us at hello@savedthat.app from the address you registered with, using the subject “Delete my account”. We'll verify your request and delete your data within 30 days.

What is deleted

When you delete your account, the following is erased permanently:

• Your profile (email, name, avatar)
• All video bookmarks you saved
• Your search history
• Your push notification tokens
• Your notification preferences
• Your Stripe customer record, which also cancels any subscription bought on the website immediately
• Questions you asked the AI, the answers kept for you, and any AI answers you reported
• Access you granted to your YouTube account (revoked at Google)
• Feedback you sent from the app and any pricing or waitlist sign-up
• Your email, name and location in our product analytics (the usage events that remain are tied only to a random identifier that no longer maps to any account)
• Any session tokens and authentication credentials

Subscriptions bought in the iOS or Android app are not cancelled by deleting your account, because Apple and Google bill them to your store account. Cancel them first: on iPhone in Settings → your name → Subscriptions; on Android in the Google Play app → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.

Deletion happens immediately. If any step fails, nothing is half-deleted: you see an error and can try again.

What may be kept, and for how long

We may retain a small amount of data after account deletion, strictly where required by law or for legitimate security reasons:

• Billing records - Stripe keeps records of past payments (including the email and card details used for them) for as long as tax and anti-fraud regulations require, typically up to 7 years. We keep no copy.
• Server access logs - anonymised request logs (without your user ID) are retained for up to 30 days for abuse prevention and security monitoring.
• Aggregated / anonymised analytics - counts of saves and searches, and the optional reason you give when deleting, recorded without any link to you, are kept indefinitely.
• Shared video transcripts - transcripts of public videos (YouTube, Instagram, TikTok) are stored in a shared table not linked to any individual user. When you delete your account, your bookmarks are removed, but the underlying transcripts remain available to other users who have saved the same video.

Partial deletion

If you want to remove specific saved videos or clear your search history without deleting your entire account, you can do so from Settings in the app or on the website. Deleted videos and cleared search history cannot be recovered.
