This one secret storytelling format has given me 5.5 million, 8.1 million, 12.3 million, 15.9 million, and 24.9 million views, and over 1 million new followers. It is called my silent film format, and likely your favorite creators have paid me to learn it, but I desperately want to see you win, so I'll give it to you for free.
I'll be using my most recent version of this format to break down exactly how it works. off the bat, we see a time anchor. Here, I'm using my past age of 23, but you can use past month or past year, and it works the same. But the reason for this is because the viewer will instinctively wait for the present year to show, and them waiting for that transformation is what optimizes the retention time.
Here, I introduce the problem, and the reason for this is because our human common denominator is struggle. You and I have very different current experiences, but I guarantee that we have overcome similar problems, the fear of visibility, the fear of judgment, the fear of failure, and in this case, the fear of not being enough. When people can see themselves in your struggle, they'll root for your transformation.
When people can see themselves in your struggle, they'll root for your transformation. Here, I'm agitating the pain. I'm not just talking about the event objectively. I'm talking about the emotion that I am feeling underneath, and that is what people stay for. They stay for the stakes.
They stay for the stakes. I want you to pay attention to the B-roll here, and I know what you're going to say. June, I don't have any B-roll of me in the past, but that's okay. I want you to think about my picture book effect. Think about when a parent reads a story to their kid. The text is there for the parent to progress the story along, and the visuals, the illustrations, are there to amplify the emotion for the kid.
That is what B-roll does for the viewer. So all you have to do is spend 30 minutes recording yourself with three emotions, happy, unhappy, and focused. That is footage you can keep using over and over again. Next, I want to talk about the music.
Now, rarely do I care to use a trending sound. Instead, my formats are so good that they make sounds trend. And the way that I do this is I look for an anticipatory effect because they complement what we talked about earlier, the time anchor. So if someone is seeing a past year and they're feeling the rising action of the music, the crescendo, once it drops, that's where the transformation occurs.
In the last two days, over 7,000 of you have commented asking me to run a storytelling content challenge where I'll be giving you frameworks this and daily prompts to practice with. I cannot believe I'm saying this, but the wait list opens up tomorrow. If you want in, comment below and I'll DM you a reminder once it's out.
