I've gone ahead and localized my in-app subscription pricing to 175 different countries and I've seen it dramatically improve my conversion rate. Now what this means in a nutshell is that if my subscription costs 10 US dollars it should cost that same amount in every single country when adjusted for their purchasing power. Now you would assume that the App Store has some in-house
algorithm built in that does this and although they do it is way off. Now for example if I look at a Brazilian user this 10 US dollars when converted to Brazilian pesos comes out to about 14 US dollars but their purchasing
power is about half of what we have here in the US. So they're expected to pay more while having less and that just doesn't make sense and you can see this in so many countries from Apple's in-house algorithm. So a lot of people what they do is they look at the purchasing power parity index I believe
it's called and a Big Mac index which is as you might be able to assume is how much a Big Mac costs in every single country and a bunch of other factors to determine what is the purchasing power that a consumer going into the app from this country might have and then you use that to adjust the prices of
your subscription and making them fair value. And as you might assume by doing this users are way more likely to pay for a product that they deem is fair value. Now there is something to say for certain products where you have fixed
costs per user so lowering the subscription prices using this index and other factors might not be viable because then your profit margins get all screwed up but if that's not the case for you should definitely look into this it's really helped conversions and there's a lot of good studies out there
from Revenue Cat and other big providers in the mobile app space that have shown that even if you're gaining less profit per user you overall get more users and your revenue goes up as a whole. So something to consider that's what I did
it's helping out I'll keep you guys updated. Peace!
