love is freedom

The movie Obsession made me realize something terrifying. The fastest way to ruin a relationship is to get exactly what you want. Because most people think relationships end when somebody leaves. But sometimes they end when you stop letting somebody be themselves. The entire movie is one giant warning about what happens when love turns into control. Because if we're honest, a lot of people don't want to be loved.

They want to be chosen, reassured, prioritized, needed. And if we're not careful, we start shaping people into the version of them that makes us feel safest. But the weird thing is, the more you control someone, the less of them remains. The more you need them to act a certain way, think a certain way, text a certain way, reassure

you a certain way, the less you're loving a person, and the more you're loving an idea. The moment someone becomes exactly what you want them to be, they stop being the person you fell in love with. And I think that's why real love requires risk. Because love isn't possession. Love isn't certainty.

Love isn't control. It's allowing another person to remain completely themselves, while choosing them anyways. You can't love someone while trying to control them. And maybe the point isn't finding someone who becomes everything you want. Maybe the point is finding somebody whose freedom doesn't scare you.
