Comparison
SavedThat vs Notion for saved videos
Paste the link into a «Learnings» database, add a tag, feel productive. This page is about the moment that comes later: you need what someone said in that video, and the database only knows its title.
Quick verdict
- Keep Notion for projects, docs, team wikis and anything you and your team write. It is excellent at that.
- Move your videos to SavedThat if «saved it to Notion» has quietly become «lost it in Notion»: SavedThat searches the words spoken inside your saved videos and opens the exact second.
Side-by-side

| Find a moment by what was said | Yes, and the result opens the video at that second | No - search covers the page text, not the video's speech |

What actually lands in Notion when you save a video
| You save | What ends up on the page | Findable by a phrase said at 0:40? |
|---|---|---|
| A YouTube link, pasted | An embedded player or a bookmark card (title, preview). No transcript. | No. Only your own notes and the title are searchable. |
| An Instagram Reel link | An embed or a bookmark card. Notion notes some sites block embedding. | No. |
| A TikTok link | An embed or a bookmark. | No. |
| Any page, with the Web Clipper | The page's content with a URL property in a database. Notion warns some content may be missing. | Only text that was on the page, not the speech. |

What Notion does better
Notion is a database product, and as a database product it is hard to beat.
Databases you shape yourself. Properties, relations, filters, views, formulas. If you want a reading list with status, rating and a link to the project it feeds, Notion builds it in minutes. SavedThat gives you one library and a search box, on purpose.
Teams. Shared workspaces, permissions, comments, a wiki everyone edits. SavedThat is a personal library.
Everything else you write. Notes, plans, docs, meeting notes. Notion is a place to work; SavedThat is a place to find a video.
What SavedThat does better
The overlap is the «Learnings» database full of video links. That is where Notion is the wrong shape.
The information was in the video, not on the page. A Notion entry holds a title and the sentence you typed. The thing you actually remember is somewhere in ten minutes of speech that Notion never saw. SavedThat transcribes it on save, so the speech is what you search.
Reels and TikToks are not opaque links. In Notion a Reel is a preview card. In SavedThat it is a transcript you can search in your own words, in any language, next to your YouTube saves.
No tagging, no template. A database only stays searchable while you keep filling in the properties. Most people stop around entry fifty. SavedThat needs nothing but the save: Android Share, the Chrome extension or a pasted link.
Notion alone is enough if…
- You save a handful of videos and write real notes on each
- The video list belongs to a team project
- You need properties, statuses and relations around each video
- You never need a quote from inside the video itself
Add SavedThat if…
- Your video database has more links than you will ever re-watch
- You save Reels and TikToks, not just YouTube
- You remember what was said, not what you named the entry
- You want to land on the second, not scrub the video
Moving a Notion video database out
Most «Learnings» databases are a copy of something the platforms already know: the Reels you saved on Instagram, the TikToks in your favourites, your YouTube Watch Later. So the fastest route usually skips Notion entirely.
Import from the source. SavedThat's Settings, Import takes an Instagram or TikTok data export and YouTube Takeout, shows you what it found and what you already have, and transcribes the rest. That tends to cover more than the database ever did, because nobody pastes every save into Notion.
Paste the stragglers. Links that only live in Notion go in one at a time from the library page or the phone's share sheet. There is no import of a CSV of URLs yet; if you have hundreds, start with the ones you actually search for.
Keep your notes. What you wrote about a video is yours and is often the most useful part. Leave it in Notion and add the SavedThat moment link next to it.
Use both: Notion for your work, SavedThat for your videos
Save every video to SavedThat from wherever you watch it. When one matters for a project, search for the moment and paste its link into the Notion page: it opens the video at that second for anyone who clicks.
If you want the words themselves in Notion, Settings, Data & privacy, Export transcripts, Markdown gives you every transcript with a timestamped link on each line, ready to import. It is a manual export, not a live sync.
And if you draft with an AI assistant, SavedThat's MCP server lets Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor search your saved videos directly. For the longer argument about why the YouTube-to-Notion habit stops working, read YouTube to Notion to nowhere; for the wider field, see how the other note apps handle saved videos.
FAQ
Can I save Instagram Reels to Notion?
Yes, as a link. Paste it and Notion turns it into an embed or a bookmark, or send it from the phone's share sheet. What Notion keeps is the link, the preview and anything you type next to it. It does not transcribe the Reel, so a search in Notion will not find something the person said in it.
Can Notion AI search inside a YouTube video I saved?
Notion's help pages do not describe Notion AI fetching or reading the transcript of a linked or embedded video. Notion's own transcription feature, AI Meeting Notes, is for meetings you record in Notion. Notion AI works over the text that is in your pages, so it can find your notes about a video, not the video's speech.
Is SavedThat a Notion alternative?
Not for what Notion is good at. SavedThat has no pages, no databases and no team workspace. It is the video layer: it transcribes the Reels, TikToks and YouTube videos you save and finds the moment by what was said. Keep your Notion; move the videos out of it.
How do I get my saved videos from Notion into SavedThat?
There is no CSV import of a link list today. If most of those videos are your own Instagram, TikTok or YouTube saves, import them from the platform instead: Settings, Import takes Instagram and TikTok data exports and YouTube Takeout. Anything else you paste at savedthat.app/library one link at a time. Your Notion notes about the videos can stay where they are.
Can I bring SavedThat transcripts back into Notion?
Yes, manually. Settings, Data & privacy, Export transcripts, Markdown gives one file with every video's transcript and a link to each timestamp; Notion imports Markdown. Moment links from any SavedThat search result paste into a Notion page as normal links.
How much does Notion cost?
Notion has a free plan. On notion.com/pricing in October 2026, Plus is listed at $10 and Business at $20 per member per month, with up to 20% off yearly; Notion AI is a trial on Free and Plus and included in Business.
